Warren Edwards Obituary

Warren Elliot Edwards, 75, was welcomed into eternal peace and glory on November 5th, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. His final moments were spent at his home in Louisville, surrounded by his family, reflecting on a life filled with gratitude.
Born to Francis and Jane Edwards on September 25th, 1950, in Muskegon, Michigan, Warren lived a life defined by service, love, and joy. He bravely served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1968 to 1971 and later earned a degree in Political Science from Marist University. It was there, in 1975, that he met the love of his life, Donna McDermott.
Their 50-year journey together was a masterclass in enduring love. Affectionately known as "Ed" to those closest to him, he and Donna built a life filled with adventure, humor, and unwavering support for one another. Together, they raised two children, Brian and Courtney, and created countless cherished moments that will live on in the hearts of their family and friends.
During a distinguished career spanning over 40 years in the insurance industry, Warren held prominent leadership roles at CNA Insurance Company and FCCI Insurance Group, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he worked with. His colleagues often said one of two things about him: "He was the best boss I've ever had" or "He was the funniest guy I've ever worked with." Both statements were true. Warren's tireless work ethic, quick wit, and ability to connect with people made him a legend in his field.
Outside of work, Warren found joy in playing golf, spending time with family, and perfecting his left-handed putting stroke - a skill born out of his struggle with the putting yips. Warren was a talented athlete and scratch golfer in his younger years, but his ability to laugh at himself and find humor in life's challenges was never in question.
Warren is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Donna McDermott Edwards; his children, Brian (Kelly) Edwards and Courtney (Steve) Nassau; and his five grandchildren – Patrick, Sam, and Edward "Teddy" Nassau, and Molly and Collin Edwards – who lovingly refer to him as "Patch." He is also survived by his sister, Virginia (Thomas) Tosko, dozens of nieces and nephews, and many dear friends who will carry his memory forward. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister, Constance Hagar.
A Mass of Remembrance will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 10:00 am on December 4th, followed immediately by the inurnment of ashes at Calvary Cemetery. A celebration of life will take place at Audubon Country Club at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the cause of your choice, and that you pour a nice glass of Belvedere on the rocks (no fruit) for yourself in his honor.
Warren was our patriarch, our hero, and our best friend. His legacy of selflessness and gratitude will live on, carried forward and passed down to future generations of our family. He taught us to face life with unwavering strength, to find laughter even in the hardest moments, and to always cherish the people around us. We are heartbroken to say goodbye, but eternally thankful for the gift of his love.
Rest in peace, Patch – you will always be the heart of our family.
