Doris Dunkle LeCompte entered into eternal rest on January 23, 2024. Beloved wife of George C. LeCompte, Jr. for 66 years. Mother of Mark LeCompte (Melissa), Kenneth LeCompte (Laurie), and Kathleen Grisoli (Damon). Grandmother of Shannon Mollere (James), Justin LeCompte (Lisa), Kortnie Layrisson (Mark), Amanda LeCompte (Arston Grass), Isabella Grisoli, and Madeline Grisoli. Great-grandmother of Blake, Vincenzo, Jake, Jackson, Lila, Paxton, Taelyn, Jonah, Hannah, Angelo, Leonardo, Ariana, and Mark Jr. Daughter of the late Paul Dunkle and Ruth Swafford Dunkle. Age 97 years, a native of New Orleans, and resident of Terrytown, LA. Doris was a Registered Nurse until retirement from Baptist Hospital New Orleans and was a member of Gretna United Methodist Church. Doris and George loved to travel and enjoyed playing Dominos and Card Games with their friends. She also loved Mardi Gras and rode in the Crescent City Truck Parade on Mardi Gras Day for many years. She reigned as Queen of Mardi Gras at Wynhoven in 2016. We would like to thank the Staff and Caregivers at Wynhoven Healthcare Center for taking care of our mom for the last seven years. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Gretna United Methodist Church, 1309 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, LA on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 1:00pm. Reception to follow. Interment at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
