Doris Pledge Obituary

She was born on May 8, 1933, in Dyer County to the late Anderson Mayberry and Bertha Crawley Mayberry. Doris was an active Assembly of God member for seventy-one years and a current charter member of Crossroads Assembly of God. She also participated in the Gideon's Women Auxiliary for many many years. She graduated from Trimble High School in 1951 and later earned her Bachelor's Degree of Science in primary education from Lambuth University.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Pledge; three brothers, Virlon Mayberry, Dow Mayberry and Leon Mayberry; and two sisters, Victoria Adkins and Georgia Tilford.
She is survived by three sons, Kent Pledge (Diane) of Jackson, Joel Pledge (Linda) of Jackson and Timothy Pledge of Jackson; daughter, Melody Kelly (Tommy) of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Bethany Erickson (Joel), Lindsay Freyer, Jean Odom (Michael), Thomas Pledge (Carrie), Carson Pledge, Brad Kelly (Lauren), and Katie Black (Levi); and seventeen great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Crossroads Assembly of God in Threeway with Joel Pledge officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour on Saturday at the church.
