Doris Schmidt, age 84, of Billings, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, at the farm she was so proud of. Doris was born in Marionville, Missouri to Albert and Josephine (Baum) Vermule, the oldest of two children.
She grew up on a farm and learned hard work at an early age. She was a devout member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Billings. She enjoyed being involved with the beef cattle shows, during the fair. She liked watching the Billings parades as well as the Billings High School team sports. She loved animals, even having two llamas once. She also enjoyed gardening, baking, dancing whether it was bluegrass, country, polka or square, she also enjoyed cooking. Doris liked doing word searches, watching Springfield Cardinals and embroidering tea towels and pillowcases. She was a Chiefs and Bills fan, mainly for the QB's Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband Frederick Schmidt, her parents, Albert and Josephine, her niece Jeannie Glaser; and her dog, Riley.
She is survived by her daughters Debbie (Bruce) Shields, of LaRussell, MO. and Karla Miekley of Billings, MO.; her brother Jerry (Judy) Vermule, of Billings, MO.; one grandchild, Britney (Brian) Wulff; one great grandchild, Brooks Wulff; her longtime feline companion, Kee-Kee; grand dog, Max; along with nieces and nephews and numerous close friends.
Rosary for Doris will be at 5:30 PM on September 15 at Meadors Funeral Home in Billings, with a visitation to follow from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Mass will be 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 16. Burial will follow at St Peter's Cemetery.
