Surrounded by her children, Grace Shelburn, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on October 4, 2025.
Born in White Owl, South Dakota, January 23, 1933, to Kenneth and Opal (Haney) Schreckenghaust, she lived there with her three brothers: Harold, Roger, and Charles until the family moved to Missouri in 1945.
Grace graduated from Liberal High School in 1951 and was married to George Davis for 24 years. This union was blessed with three children: Carol McDonnell (Kevin), Gary Davis (Yoli), and Bruce Davis (Phuong). Hard-working and years ahead of her time, she earned her private pilot's license and enjoyed taking trips with her children.
She had a love of dance, and it was through that love that she met and married James Shelburn. They were happily married until his passing in 2022. For years they ran their own lawn-mowing business. They loved and were involved in the lives of their nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. They enjoyed going to dances, traveling, and spending time with the endless friends they met along their full lives. They both attended Sac River Cowboy Church.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband James, and two brothers: Harold and Roger. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Sac River Cowboy Church, Integrity Home Care and Hospice or Republic Nursing and Rehab.
Grace is survived by her children: Carol McDonnell (Kevin), Gary Davis (Yoli), and Bruce Davis (Phuong), one brother, Charles Schreckenghaust (Virginia), 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many extended family members and countless friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8th, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Meadors Funeral Home in Republic, Missouri, followed by a funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Lindsey Cemetery in Republic, Missouri.
