Moynihan and her husband Brian of Bangor, Maine; two brothers, Peter Robash of Westport and Karl Robash of Roslindale; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris was born in Boston, daughter of Fred and Bertha (Cochrane) Robash. She was a graduate of Bostin Girls' Latin High School. She graduated from Worcester State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. She earned a Master's Degree in Marketing Communications from Clark University.

She was on the staff at the Seven Hills Foundation from 1995 through 2005 as an advancement associate, and communications and events coordinator. Before retiring, she continued her work as a communications consultant and free-lance writer.
