Doris Yee

Doris Yee, age 71, of Birmingham, passed away on October 11, 2025. She was born and raised in Detroit and later made her home in Birmingham, where she resided with her husband, Wally, for nearly 30 years.
Doris graduated from Cass Technical High School in 1972 and went on to build a successful career as a hairstylist that spanned more than 50 years. She began her work at the Glemby Salon inside Hudson's Department Store in Detroit, spent many years at Ezelli Hair Salon, and later continued seeing clients from her home. Her dedication to her craft and her loyal clients was a defining part of her life.
Known for her great sense of style, Doris always stayed current with fashion and trends, something that came naturally to her as a stylist. She also loved to shop and had an eye for finding just the right thing. And along with her husband, Wally, Doris loved to travel-both around the country and overseas-and especially enjoyed visiting family, including those in Hawaii, where her mother was born. She was also a true foodie who enjoyed trying new restaurants and cuisines wherever she went.
Doris will be remembered for her talent, her caring nature, and the close relationships she built with so many people. Indeed, many of her clients became like family to her. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work, creativity, and care for others, and will be deeply missed.
Above all, Doris was devoted to her loved ones. She is cherished as the beloved wife of Wally Hutton, and the loving sister of Deanna Ewing, Denise (Peter) Grim, and the late Douglas (survived by Barbara) Yee. She is also survived by her beloved cats, Molly and Amber, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life for Doris Yee will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at St John's Episcopal Undercroft (Basement), 2326 Woodward Ave, Detroit, from 12pm - 2pm. Free parking is available.
