Dorothea A. Gray, 90, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024 surrounded by family.
"Dot," as she was known, was born to Robert and Ida Domma in Ihlingen, Germany on January 3, 1934. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph H. Gray in March 2000.
Dot enjoyed several hobbies throughout her life, including knitting and sewing, reading books, listening to music and working in her garden. She was an excellent cook, treating the family to many delicious German meals over the years. At Christmas, she was also known for baking the best cookies, many times in the company of family who now cherish those memories.
Many others will remember Dot from Montgomery Ward department store in Salisbury, MD. She worked at Ward's from 1972 to 1997 as a sales clerk. She loved working there and all the friends she made. After living over 20 years in North Carolina, Dot returned to Salisbury in 2017 to be closer to family.
Dot is remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and husband, as well as her brother German (Lotte) Domma. Dot is survived by her four children, Teri Patrick, Mike (Peggy) Gray, Sue (Mike Matthews) Marine, and Carolyn Gray. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christina Gray, Saga Gray, Nick (Jessica) Marine, and Heather (Mike) Wilson; as well great grandchildren Lily, Zane, Waylon, Beau, and Cody.
The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Dot's memory be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
