Dorothy Anderson, 95, Minot, died Monday, August 18, 2025, in a Minot assisted living facility, surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy Marie Brandt was born in Bottineau, ND, to Theodore and Blanche (Owens) Brandt on Dec.16, 1929. After a short time in Upham, ND, the family moved to Macclesfield, NC, where she attended grade school and later to Newport News, VA, for high school. In her teens, they returned to Upham where her family farmed.

She moved to Minot, ND, and worked at FW Woolworth's and Northern States Power (NSP) for a short time. On November 7th, 1948, she married Norman A. Anderson. She stayed home to raise their two sons, Charles and Gerald while Norman worked at Great Northern Railway, and eventually with Job Service. In 1961, she returned to NSP where she remained until 1988 when she retired as a Customer Service Supervisor. Dorothy and Norman also owned and operated the Pollyanna Dress Shop in downtown Minot for 25 years until its closure in 1997.

Dorothy was a member of First Lutheran Church, FLC Mother's Club, Deaconess Board and taught Sunday School. She and Norman enjoyed many years of making rommegrot for the Norsk Hostfest and pies for the First Lutheran Church stand at the ND State Fair. While at NSP, Dorothy was a member of Quota Club.

Their retirement years were filled attending activities of the grandchildren, spending time with family at their Lake Metigoshe cabin, as well as antiquing and traveling - that may have included a "few" trips to Las Vegas.

Time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was her greatest joy. Always a willing participant to join a game of cards or learn a new board game, Dorothy embraced new adventures and treasured old traditions. A great cook and hostess, Dorothy made many memorable meals and lifelong memories for the family at the holidays.

In 2023, Dorothy moved to assisted living at The View in Minot, ND, where she was reacquainted with old friends, made many new friends, and was taken care of by a loving and caring staff.

Dorothy is survived by sons: Charles (Clarisse) Anderson of Minot, Gerald Anderson of Santa Monica, CA; grandchildren: Charisse (Paul) Aslakson of West Fargo, ND, Maria (Mark) Neset of Bismarck, ND, and Teddy (Sarinya) Anderson of Atlanta, GA; great grandchildren: Brandt, Alyse, Charlie Aslakson and Quinn, Siri, Jack Neset; Sisters-in-law: Elaine Brandt of Upham, ND, and Gladys Brandt of Hampton, VA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Norman, her parents, and siblings, Helen Smith, Evelyn Johnson, Adrian, Fred and Jerry Brandt.

A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in First Lutheran Church - Minot. A livestream link can be found on Dorothy's obituary page on the funeral home website.

A visitation will begin at the church 1 hour prior to the start of the service.

Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church of Minot.
