Michael J. Meier, 69, Minot formerly of Detroit, MI, passed away following a courageous four year battle with his health, Tuesday, August 19, 2025, in his home.

Michael Joseph Meier, a loving husband, caring brother and veteran of the US Air Force, was born September 12, 1955 in Milwaukee, WI to parents John N. and Dolores L. (Redig) Meier.

Michael grew up near Detroit in Warren, MI and attended Cousino High School, graduating with the class of 1973. He enlisted into the United States Air Force later that year in October and served his country honorably stateside in Indiana and Wyoming and abroad in Turkey until his discharge as a Staff Sergeant on May 5, 1981.

Michael returned to his roots near Detroit and began working a job in security for Bloomberg Savings and Loan later known as Standard Federal for a few years. He made the move to retail and Buffalo, NY working first for Kmart and later Builders Square for many years as a supervisor in the building materials department. A move back to Detroit with an opportunity at Lowe's presented itself until he found his niche at Home Depot working as a supervisor until his health forced his retirement in 2022.

Michael married Evernne Novodvorsky on June 15, 1996, in St. Clair Shores, MI. They made their home in the Marine City, MI until a move to North Dakota was made to be near Evernne's family in 2013.

Michael was patriotic, loved Christmas and always looked forward to gatherings of family and friends. A devoted fan to all things Detroit – Tigers, Lions and the Redwings took most of his fandom, however he was known to also support the Green Bay Packers on the side! Many rounds of golf were played in his younger years. Michael was a homebody but the door was always open to family, friends and neighbors. He will be missed deeply by all who were blessed to share in his life.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Evernne Meier, Minot; siblings John (Michelle) Meier, Bluffton, SC, Mary (Jerald) Johnson, Cicero, IN, Barb Manning, Brownstown, MI, Carolyn (Gary) Cortner, Harbor Springs, MI, Margaret (Andres) Santiviago, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI and Nancy Betz, Clinton Township, Michigan; brothers and sisters-in-law John III (Brenda) Novodvorsky, Douglas, Jason (Brenda) Novodvorsky, Douglas, Evette (Mitch) Melby, Minot and Evonne (Franklin) Booker, Minot along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law John and Evernne Novodvorsky and brothers-in-law Jeff 'JB' Betz and Gary Zablocki.
