Flanner Buchanan - Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters)Dorothy Mae Barrett was born on March 11, 1936, in Hagerstown, Indiana to the late Thomas and Bertha (Cate) Andrew, the youngest of 3 girls. She passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Independence Village of South Fishers, where she lived for 9 years since losing her husband, Jack Barrett on August 1, 2016.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Jacqueline Sue Bristow and Jill Elaine (Kip) Watts, 5 grandchildren (Lyndsay (Sam) Krauter, Jonathan (Sarah) Bristow, Maddie (Joe) Freije, Emily (Nathan) Ramler and Corey (Kayla) Watts) and 15 great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Jack, and a son, Scott Andrew Barrett.
Dorothy attended Indiana University before marrying Jack in 1956. She was a huge supporter of all of her daughter’s and grandchildren’s activities, encouraging them to be as involved as they wanted to be and driving many carpool miles while they were young. She also enjoyed several volunteer activities, especially the 4 years she served as president of Crossroads Volunteer association, where she contributed over 4000 hours to Crossroads Rehabilitation Center/Easter Seals.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Friday, November 14 at Flanner Buchanan - Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters Building), 4180 Westfield Road, Westfield, IN 46062. Please visit flannerbuchanan.com to sign the online guest register.
