Dorothy Ann Ford Cantrell passed away peacefully with her children by her side on June 19, 2024, in Milan, Tennessee at the age of 81. Dorothy was born on January 2, 1943, in Milan, Tennessee. Dorothy was a graduate of Bradford High School, class of 1961. She was also a graduate from the University of Tennessee at Martin where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Dorothy was a teacher at Bradford Elementary School for 34 years. Dorothy loved to teach, but she also loved to learn. During her time as a teacher, she went back to school herself and added a Master’s Degree and Career Level Three to her credentials. In 2009, Dorothy obtained a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Dorothy was a member of Pleasant View Church of Christ in Skullbone.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, L.V. and Aileen Ford, her husband of 61 years Harlon Cantrell, her son Troy Cantrell, and her brothers Gary and Phillip Ford. 

Dorothy is survived by her son, Shon (Angie) Cantrell of Bradford and her daughter, Velvet (Brian) Garner of Greenfield. She was a beloved Grandmother to eight grandchildren; Brandon (Cathy) Cantrell, Alex (Catie) Cantrell, Macy Garner, Sydney Cantrell, Shelby Cantrell, Garrett Garner, Aldon Cantrell, Kensie Garner; and one great-granddaughter, Hailey Cantrell.

A visitation to honor and remember Dorothy will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 10 a.m. until service time. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Both services will be held at Hunt’s Funeral Home in Bradford with a burial to follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Bradford.
