Dorothy I. Desbiens, 86, of East Stroudsburg, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg in Bethlehem as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was the widow of Robert J. Desbiens with whom she shared 51 years of marriage at the time of his death in 2007.
Born on April 21, 1938 in Paterson, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Charles R. and Cornelia (Vennik) Paxton and has lived in Monroe County for the past 37 years. Prior to moving to Pennsylvania she lived in Oakridge, Lincoln Park, Fairlawn, Waldwick and Paterson, NJ.
Dorothy was a member of the New Life Fellowship Baptist Church in Marshalls Creek; the Red Hat Society in East Stroudsburg, and the Stroudsmoor Ladies Club.
She was an avid BINGO player.
Surving are three children, Emil Desbiens of Pen Argyl, Robert Desbiens and his partner, Kevin McCarthy of Fishes Eddy, NY, and Ranee Casier of Peckville; eight grandchildren, Samantha Pabon, Natalie Rivera, Josselyn Desbiens, Briget Rischway, Heather Cremeens, Trudi Kopek, Madelyn Casier and Victoria Squio; twelve great grandchildren, Jack, Charlie, Toby, Grace, Marshall, Tessa, Giovani, Roman, Aliviana, Sophia, Levi and Annalia; a sister, Lois Amoto; a brother, Bob Paxton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Robyn Fuzio and six siblings, Marie Steed, Estelle Koehler, Ruth Ackerson, Charles Paxton, Beverly Brown and Frank Paxton.
There will be a viewing on Friday, December 13th from 2:00 to 3:30PM at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. A memorial service will follow beginning at 4:00PM at the New Life Fellowship Baptist Church, 456 Resica Falls Road, East Stroudsburg with Pastor Patrick Hughes officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).

It was such a blessing knowing Dorothy. She opened up her arms to us when we joined New Life church. Always helping her in times of need. Jim and I were truly blessed to call you our friend. God gained a beautiful woman. God bless you. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family as they mourn her loss.
