Dorothy "Doris" Belle Sims May 12, 1923 - October 5, 2025
Dorothy "Doris" Belle Sims, age 102, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, at Brandley Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.
Dorothy was born on May 12, 1923, in Lovelaceville, Kentucky, and moved to Florida with her family at the age of six. She lived a long, full life filled with love and grace. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, caring for her family with devotion and warmth. Over the years, she also worked at the local theater and at the snack bar in a bowling center. Dorothy enjoyed cooking and canning, and she loved traveling with her sisters. Yard sales were one of her favorite pastimes, and she especially loved playing card games; her favorite was one called Scat. Dorothy was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church in Belleview, Florida. Her faith was strong, and she rarely missed a service. She loved her church family and found joy in worship and fellowship. Most of all, she treasured time with her family and church family, especially gathering around the table for meals and laughter.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Keaton Sims; her son, John Sims; two grandchildren; and her siblings-Virginia, Hazel, Charlie, Ellamae, Pauline, and Howard. She is survived by her children, Dan Sims and Mary Taff (Buddy); ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Her love for family was deep and lasting, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and togetherness.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Marion County for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church in Belleview or Hospice of Marion County in loving memory of Dorothy Sims.
