Dorothy A. "Dora" Falbo, 94, a lifelong resident of Carbondale, PA. died Sunday, August 31, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph A. "Gabby" Falbo who died January 26, 2012.
Born December 15, 1930 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Carmella C. DePoti Liuzzo.
Dora attended Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and left school in the 11th grade to help support her family. She worked in the local garment industry as a sewing machine operator until her retirement.
She was a wonderful cook and loved to bake her delicious desserts especially her Christmas cookies. She loved her family dearly and truly had a "Heart of Gold."
She was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale and had a great devotion to the Rosary, Blessed Mother and the church.
Her family extends a special thank you to Dr. Matthew Haley and staff, Hospice of the Sacred Heart and the nurses and staff in the 200 hall of the Carbondale Nursing Home. Their loving, compassionate care will be remembered always.
She is survived by one brother: Thomas Liuzzo and wife, Faith of Scranton, PA; one sister-in-law: Teresa Liuzzo of Mayfield, PA; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers: Joseph, John, Richard, Patrick and Anthony Liuzzo and her beloved dog, Nattie.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Rev. Seth D. Wasnock, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers were her nephews: Kevin Liuzzo, Kenneth Liuzzo, Joseph Liuzzo, Daniel Colachino, Sr., Daniel Colachino, Jr., and Tyler Colachino.
A viewing was held Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at the church.
Arrangements were under the care of the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
