Born on September 15, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Grover and Juanita Ghant. A proud lifelong resident of Fort Mill, she devoted her life to family, faith, and education.
She spent 29 years shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher at Fort Mill Elementary. Known for her warmth, wisdom, and quiet strength, she led with love and lived her values with grace and resilience.
She was a breast cancer survivor, a storyteller, and a spirited woman who found joy in life’s simple moments. Her family will always remember her humor and her unwavering encouragement. She was first married to William Mothershed and later to John Kerr; both preceded her in death. She is survived by her children: Joey (Donna) Mothershed, Patricia Williams (Dale), Etta (Eric) Mothershed, Alex Kerr (Donna), Kelly Kerr Matthews (Rob), and Steve Kerr (Darlene); her grandchildren: Katherine Williams, Sarah Williams, Brad Kerr, Megan Kerr, Trey Kerr, Trevor Kerr, Riley Matthews, Jonathan Matthews, and the late Matthew Kerr; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor her memory by donating to Samaritan’s Purse or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, two causes she supported faithfully throughout her life.
