Dorothy Dottie Kishel

Dorothy (Dottie) Kishel, age 97, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 14, 2024.
Born in New Haven on September 2, 1926, Dorothy was the daughter of William and Mary Magdaline (Schwab) Wieler.
Dorothy grew on Sherman Ave in New Haven, and she attended St. Boniface school. She graduated from Albertus Magnus College in 1948, earning a bachelor's degree in Mathematics.
Dorothy met her future husband, Philip (Phil) Kishel, in high school. She waited for Phil while he served, and they married on July 2, 1949, at St. Boniface Church. After the marriage, Phil attended the University of Connecticut, so they moved near to the campus. Phil became a builder, and they raised a family of 9 children, first living in New Haven and West Haven, then in Madison. Dorothy and Phil enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Yosemite, and winter stays in Florida along with family. They hosted many memorable Summer and Christmas parties for their extended family.
Dorothy and Philip were devoted Catholics.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Phil, her son Greg Kishel, her sisters Eleanor Heimann and Mary Wertenbach, and her brothers Edward Wieler and William Wieler.
She is survived by eight children: Christine Rogers, Linda Natale, Dave Kishel, Liz Rafaloski, Carol Handy, Mary Gibson, Patty Lorentzen, and Katy Szabo.
In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren: Peter Rogers, Jennifer Rogers, Christopher Natale, Brian Kishel, Evan Kishel, Geoffrey Kishel, Megan Garon, Emily Hamner, Hayley Garcia, Sarah Ibbitson, Nadia Handy, Justin Handy, Naomi Gibson, Rene Gibson, Kenny Lorentzen, Jeffrey Lorentzen, Timothy Lorentzen, Danny Bryce, and Melissa Bryce.
She also is survived by numerous great-grandchildren.

Dorothy's funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 8 at 10:00 AM at St. Margaret's Church, located at 24 Academy Street, Madison, CT. A memorial reception for family and friends will follow.
