Dorothy Emma Grune Morrison was called home Saturday, June 8, 2024 Dorothy was born December 22, 1932 in Bay City, Texas. She attended school in Bay City where she graduated from Bay city high school in 1950. After high school she moved to Houston to work for a small loan company then shorty after went to work for Marathon oil company in Houston. In 1959 she married Carroll "Karo" Morrison. The couple then moved to Austin where she went to work for the University of Texas as a secretary. Then in 1967 she decided to stay home and raise her family. Once the kids, Karen and Kent were older, she went to work for Providence Washington Insurance company where she worked as a transcriptionist until she retired in 1993.
In her retirement, Dorothy loved to sew, bake and quilt with the ladies of the church. She loved doing puzzles and playing bingo and crossword puzzles up until the moment she was called home.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Carroll "Karo" Morrison; father, Paul Fritz Grune; mother, Marie Kiehr Grune; older sister, Matilda Marie Smith, older sister, Pauline Lydia Sliva and younger brother, Paul Fritz Grune, Jr.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Karen Sirgo; son-in-law, Carlos Sirgo; son, Kent Morrison; grandson, Cody Kinsfather and husband Terrance Kinsfather, grandson, Justin Hamby and wife Kara Hamby and great-grandchildren, Rylinn Hamby, Justin Hamby Jr., Hadley Hamby.
Dorothy went by many names in life, Dorothy, Dot, Aunt Dot and Mom. In later years she was known to most as Grandma. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and family and friends that will always remember her as Grandma.
Visitation 10:00 am on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1513 E. Yager Lane, Austin, Texas 78753. With Funeral Service to begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery, Liberty Hill, Texas.
