Dorothy Stannard Nash, 93, a former resident of Timberline Road in Warwick, RI was peacefully called to be with her late husband and her Lord August 5, 2025, with some of her beloved family at her side. Born in Denver, Colorado, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Clarence Stannard and Amy (Polk Kemp) Stannard. Dorothy was the beloved wife of William Wendler Nash for 63 years until his passing in 2018.
She was a graduate of Lincoln School in Providence and Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA where she earned a degree in mathematics.
As a young woman she was an accomplished golfer. Under the tutelage of George Gordon of the Wannamoisett Country Club, she was a college golf champion for four years at Mount Holyoke College.
After graduation from Mount Holyoke, she was employed as one of the first female programmers for the first IBM magnetic computer in the research department of United Aircraft in East Hartford, CT. She taught at Burgess Elementary School and at Tantasqua Regional Junior High School, she served as a certified instructor of students with dyslexia. After moving to Warwick, she continued to instruct students with dyslexia at the East Greenwich Middle and High School.
While a resident on Sunrise Lane in Sturbridge, MA, she was an active parishioner of Holy Trinity Church in Southbridge and she and her husband served as co-presidents of the PTA at the Burgess Elementary School. She was also a former parishioner of Saint Luke's Church in East Greenwich where she served on the altar guild and was a member of Grace Bible Church in Seakonk, Massachusetts. She was also a Girl Scout Troop Leader.
She traveled extensively with her husband and family both in the Americas and Europe and visited every state in the United States and all provinces and territories of Canada.
Dorothy's gentle spirit and unwavering kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. With boundless patience and a quiet strength, she nurtured not only her children but also anyone who was blessed enough to come into her care, offering love without condition and compassion without hesitation. Her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped, she leaves behind a world made better simply by her gentle presence.
Her memory will be kept eternal by all who knew her and she will be deeply missed by her family, including children: Caroline Nash of Charlton, MA, Beverly Stannard Moses and her husband, Fredric of Sarasota, FL, and James Walker Moore Nash and his wife, Sabra, of Ormond Beach, FL; three beloved grandchildren: Roy James Nash and his wife, Amy, of Nazareth, PA, Amy Kathryn Ramsberger and her husband, Brett of Hellertown, PA, and Megan Stannard Sibum and her husband, Max, of East Stroudsburg, PA; and her cherished great-grandchildren: Charlotte Ramsberger, Parker Ramsberger, Benjamin Ramsberger, Emma Rose Beatty, Jesse Frederick Nash, Bruno Walter Sibum, and Levi Stannard Sibum.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in passing by her sister, Francis Stannard Eggers.
