Nancy Ambler Traficante passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024 after a brief fight with cancer. Nancy was 87 years old. She was born in New York City to Matthew and Nancy Worster. She grew up in Rutherford where she lived her entire life. She was a graduate of Lincoln School, Pierrepont School and Rutherford High School's class of 1954. She went on to college and graduated with a BA from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA and was a member of Chi Omega.
Nancy was a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church, Rutherford. She was active in the Vestry, altar guild and many church fundraisers over the years. She volunteered at the Rutherford Food Pantry and the thrift shop at Valley Hospital as well as other fundraisers and community outreach activities.
Nancy's professional endeavors included serving as the Executive Assistant to the Provost at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford. She retired in 2006 after serving in a similar capacity at the Presbytery of the Palisades in Washington Township, NJ.
Nancy was curious and inquisitive and an avid reader. She was drawn to human interest stories and topics outside her life experience. She made rugs through the art of rug hooking that adorn the homes of her family and friends. This captured her interest for years and she created dozens of decorative arts and crafts rugs. Nancy was a longtime member of the Kip Senior Center in Rutherford where she had many friends. Her friends and experiences at the Kip Center were a great source of joy and fulfillment.
Nancy was loved and supported in her final months by visiting family and friends and especially by the CareOne team of nurses and aides in Paramus, NJ.
She is survived and loved by her husband, John, and her children, Susan Moscatello and Kenneth Traficante; her son-in-law, Paul Moscatello and her grandchildren, Patrick, Caroline, Jasmine and Grace; and her sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Jack Walsh.
Family will receive friends Monday 4:00 to 8:00 in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
Funeral Tuesday, all to meet 11am for a Prayer Service in the Grace Episcopal Church, 128 West Passaic Ave., Rutherford, followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery, 742 Rutherford Ave., Lyndhurst.
