Dorothy Melissa Pettit, 96, widow of Earlie Washington Pettit passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at her home.
Born March 27, 1926 in Gaffney, SC. she was the daughter of the late Joe Parker and Lillie Mae Messer Parker. She was a retired textile worker with Arkwright and Clifton Mills and a member of Gospel Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Margaret Fish and Betty Parris both of Cowpens; 6 grandchildren, Tim Gowan (Tandi), Donna Brown (Larry), Steve Parris (Kim), LeAnne LeMaster, Terry Parris (Kathy), Michael Parris (Samantha); 11 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandchild soon to be born.
In addition to her parents she was Predeceased by 3 brothers and 6 sisters.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2022 at Harris-Nadeau Mortuary. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Harris-Nadeau Mortuary. Burial will follow in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home, 1095 Beacon Light Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
