Dorothy Sherrard Pugh, 87, of Mathews, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Mathews, and a graduate of Mathews High School.
After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator prior to her marriage to William Robert “Bobby” Pugh. She then became a dedicated wife and mother, creating a loving home for her family. Later, she drove a school bus for Gloucester County Day School, now known as Ware Academy. Dorothy loved gardening and taking care of the many precious pets she had over the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby, and is survived by her son, Steven Pugh (Betty J.); daughter, Sherrard Lynn Hudgins (Robbie); grandchildren, Anna Nicole, Lauren Ashley, Daniel and Cliff, and her beloved pug, April.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2025 in the mausoleum chapel at Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton. Following the service there will be a reception held at Central United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society, P.O. Box 385, Gloucester, VA 23061, Central United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 297, Mathews, VA 23109, or to the charity of your choice.
