Dorothy Ann Satkowiak passed away peacefully at the Toni and Trish House with family by her side on Monday, September 18,2023. Dorothy was born on September 1, 1927, to the late Alex and Agnes (Staszak) Jeske in
Kawkawlin, MI. On May 22, 1948, Dorothy married the love of her life Raymond J. Satkowiak. He preceded her in death on December 19, 2011. Dorothy found great enjoyment in baking and cooking for her family and friends. She also loved gardening, bird watching, playing her Polka music and playing bingo. Dorothy was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers. But most of all Dorothy loved spending time with her family and friends. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the biggest joy of her life. Dorothy's great sense of humor and witty one-liners will greatly be missed.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Karen (Bob) Leonard, Cindy (Tom) Heitmueller, Allan (Karen) Satkowiak, Mark Satkowiak, Renee (Vaughn) Rytlewski, her grandchildren: Stacie (Scott) Helgesen, Jason (Sarah) Satkowiak, Michael (Ashlee) Satkowiak, Megan (Steve) Rowlison, Catherine Leonard (Ken Hanner), Kaysie (John) Morrow, Kristie (David) Fournier, her great-grandchildren: Claire and Carly Helgesen, Olivia and Owen Satkowiak, Tenley, Kaylin and Abbie Satkowiak, Mack and Luke Fournier, Elizabeth Hanner, and Edith Morrow. Also surviving Dorothy is hen sister Evelyn Shelagowski, special niece Joyce Pomaville, sisters-in-law Sister Thomasine Satkowiak, Pauline (Chet) Latocki, Barb Satkowiak and brother-in-law Bob (LuAnne) Satkowiak, many nieces, nephews and special friends, Marilyn, Camielle, Theresa and Art. In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her granddaughter Elizabeth Leonard, sister Mary Janczynski, and brothers, Steven, Stanley, Chester, John, Peter, Aloyisius, and Ben, and her close friend Maxine Field.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of MyMI Hospice, (especially RN's Amy and Cory) for all the medical care and support provided to Dorothy and her family. And a special thank you to MyMI Hospice volunteer Charlene Malkin for all the wonderful time spent crafting with Dorothy. We would also like to extend a special thank you to the Toni and Trish House for providing a beautiful, peaceful home full of kindness and support for Dorothy and her family. Also, thank you to the ladies of the VFW Auxiliary post #6950 for putting on monthly bingos at Dorothy's Assisted Living.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Prince of Peace Church, St. Ann Campus in Linwood MI on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 11:00 am with Rev. Fr. Prentice Tipton presiding. Visitation will take place at the Rivertown Funeral Chapel in Kawkawlin, MI on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 3:00 to 8:00 pm with a prayer service held at 7:00 pm and with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of mass. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin, MI following the Service.
