Dorothy A. (Widdop) Sheppard, of Weymouth, passed away on October 6th, 2025, at the age of 83. Born in Quincy on August 4th, 1942, she was the daughter of the late J. Lawrence Widdop and Doris M. (Dell) Widdop. Dorothy was raised in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High School.
She began her career at Quincy Cooperative Bank, where she met the love of her life, the late Harold F. Sheppard. After spending several years at home raising her children, Dorothy went on to work as an insurance agent, where she remained until her retirement.
Dorothy was a dedicated volunteer at South Shore Hospital often in the gift shop and loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling with adult groups to many states and countries every chance she had, creating cherished memories wherever she went. In her spare time, she loved doing diamond paintings and was a frequent QVC shopper.
Dorothy is survived by her children, David F. Sheppard and his wife Kimberly of Lebanon, TN, Linda A. Miller and her husband Allan of Weymouth, MA, and Bryan C. Sheppard of Kingston, MA. She was the proud grandmother of Christopher J. Miller, Robert Sheppard, Jonathan Sheppard, Michael A. Miller, B. Curtis Sheppard Jr., Emily M. Sheppard, Matthew C. Sheppard, and Richard H. Sheppard; and great-grandmother to Jim, Chloe, Jack, Piper, Riley, and Oliver. She is also survived by her brother Robert D. Widdop. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold F. Sheppard.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 13th from 9 AM to 11 AM at the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.), South Weymouth, MA. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 11 AM, followed by burial at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
