Dorothy JoAnn Anglin Stokes, 83, of Phenix City, AL passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta, GA
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm EST on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Dr. Mike Stevens and Pastor Hank Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City.
Mrs. Stokes was born May 11, 1941 in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late Willie C. Anglin and Ruby Lee Houghton Anglin. She was a gifted multi-instrumental musician and vocalist. She enjoyed shopping, participating in all church activities and programs, and when she could, visiting beautiful Sanibel Island, FL. But her greatest joy was sharing special moments with all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her family. She was a former member of Temple Baptist Church and a member of Glenn Anthony Baptist Church in Columbus.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. “Bobby” Stokes; sister, Barbara Moore, and two brothers, Jimmy Anglin and David Anglin.
She is survived by her children, Sandy Stokes of Phenix City, AL; Bobby Stokes of Columbus, GA, and Terry Mills and husband Stephan of Phenix City, AL; seven grandchildren, Trachelle Stokes, A J Currier (Scarlett), Nicholas Stokes, Katlin Cutts, Jonah Mills (Sydney), Jolee Mills, and Jalee Mills, and two precious great-grandchildren, Selah Mills and Shiloh Mills; several nieces, nephews, other loving family members, church family, and numerous friends.
