Brian Harrington, Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point will be the con-celebrants of the Mass with entombment following immediately after in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart mausoleum on Hwy. 35.
Dot, a life-long resident of Church Point, was the daughter of the late Eddie Wimberly and the former Mary Doris Barousse. A little powerhouse of love & joy, she learned from her parents the values of a strong faith, hard work & love of family-values that she lived & taught until her death. She attended 8th grade prom with Bobby, who would later become her husband. Dot followed the Lord wherever he prompted her, even to what seemed to be a call to religious life; She entered the community of the Grey Nuns with the encouragement of her pastor, Msgr. Bienvenu, in Gueydan, LA. After 3 years of discernment, she answered God's call to a different vocation that of marriage and motherhood. She graduated Church Point High in May & married the love of her life, on Nov 4, 1961.She spent her 61 years of marriage devoted to selflessly loving & serving Jesus, her family & her community. She worked tirelessly raising her children, serving her faithful customers, watering plants, bookkeeping & managing the family businesses, Bob's Nursery, Acadia Motor Supply & Thib's Red Brahmans. Dot gathered the family for prayer every night & her kids often laughed that it was never- ending. She loved flowers, plants & trees, but watching her children & grandchildren compete at sporting events, livestock shows & rodeos filled her heart. Dot passed on her faith by word & example, remaining joyful throughout her life's most difficult challenges. In spite of suffering through severe rheumatoid arthritis, the pain of losing mobility, & grieving through the deaths of her siblings, her little body faded though her loving heart & generous spirit grew stronger, giving everything she had until the end. She woke up everyday with a purpose. She passed from this life peacefully & saintly, on the Feast of the Assumption. She will forever be remembered for her radiant smile.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Roy 'Bob' Thibodeaux of Church Point; her three daughters, Melanie Carroll and husband Brian of Opelousas, Mary Denise Futch and husband Wayne of
Tallahassee, FL and Alison Lejeune and husband Scotty of Church Point; her five sons, Troy Thibodeaux and wife Lisa of Church Point, Frank Thibodeaux and wife Lisa of Crowley, Neal Thibodeaux and wife Rebekah of Church Point, Michael Thibodeaux and wife Jeanne of Broussard and Seth Thibodeaux and wife Janelle of Lafayette; thirty-four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and her two sisters, Connie Bourgeois and Jackie Watson of Church Point.
