Dorothy Lee Thurmond, 96, also known as Dot, of Indianapolis, IN passed away quietly December 6, 2024, surrounded by her family. Dorothy and her husband, Albert "Slim", who entered into rest in 2014, were married for 65 years.

She is survived by her children, Teresa (Glendell) Lovellette, Patti (Jerry) Daniels, and Ken (Nicole) Thurmond; sister, Jane McGlocklin, and brother, Sam Leverett; grandchildren, Jim, Joshua, Jennifer, Susanne, Jason, Mae, and Cory; 9 great-grandchildren, and extended family members, nieces and nephews.

She was born to the late Ayriel Orbra Leverett and Eunice Myrtle Salyer who preceded her in death in Anniston, MO; brothers, Cliff Leverett (Indiana) and L.C. Leverett (Texas), and sisters, Marie Lindsey and Helen Ford (both of Indianapolis).

Her delight in life as a homemaker was her loving family. She was an active member of Garfield Park Church of God. 

A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held on January 9, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care, 2433 East Main Street, Greenwood, IN 46143, with Visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

The Burial service will be held at Rosebud Cemetery located at 153 Rosebud Church Rd. (off US Hwy 60E), Sturgis, KY, at 2:00 p.m. CST, Friday, January 10, 2025. 

Dot’s nephew, Rev. Michael Thurmond, will officiate the services.

Memorial contributions in Dot’s memory may be made to Rosebud Cemetery Fund, 10468 US Hwy 60 East, Sturgis, KY 42459, in care of Donna Erickson.
