Dortha Pauline "Polly" Hatmaker, 79, of Soddy-Daisy, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 in a local hospice facility surrounded by her loved ones.
Polly was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, "Ginnie". She loved to sing in the New Salem Baptist Church choir, where she was a member. She loved to garden, as she had some of the most beautiful flowers each season. Her homemade pies and cakes were always a favorite wherever she took them.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Kenneth Wayne Hatmaker; sisters, Patricia Smith and Princess Moon; and brother, William Jones.
She is survived by her daughters, Melissa (Scott) Holloway and Elizabeth Flanigan; granddaughter, Victoria Hatmaker, and special friend and caretaker, Peggy Fowler.
The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff of Hospice of Chattanooga for their care of Polly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Polly's memory to New Salem Baptist Church or Hospice of Chattanooga.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday at New Salem Baptist Church, with Pastor Alan Rogers officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, April 21st in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Saturday at New Salem Baptist Church.
Arrangements are by Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8911 Dallas Hollow Road, Soddy-Daisy, TN 37379. (423) 843-2525.
