Randall Eugene Hatmaker, also known as Otis and the Mayor of Briceville, age 73 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family (his greatest treasures) on Thursday, March 13th, 2025. He was the best husband, Daddy, Papaw, Gramps and Father-in-Law that anyone could have ever asked for. To know him was to love him. He always loved aggravating people and was the life of the party. Through many struggles in his life, he always managed to smile and was always there for anyone night or day. He was a great friend to everyone. He was so very proud of his family, especially his grand kids and great grandkids Presley and Grace who he adored. There was no stopping him when it came to working. You can't keep a good man down! He continued right up until the day before he passed, with H&H Excavating hauling rock and helping friends in need. He made many friends at the local post offices while hauling mail for Davenport Transportation since 2012. He enjoyed life to the fullest and would always be up for a trip for anything, especially gambling. While our hearts are so very broken with the sudden passing, we will always keep his memories alive and tell everyone what a wonderful person he was.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Rubye Hatmaker; brother, Gary Hatmaker; special in-laws, Douglas "Buck" & Etta Austin; special aunts, Helen Rhea and Mary Rhea.
He leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 48 years Kathy Hatmaker; his baby girl, Michelle Hatmaker Birchfield and husband Jason; granddaughter, Brittany Hurst and husband Chance; grandson, Caleb Birchfield (Sydney Collier); and great granddaughters who were the light of his life, Presley and Grace Hurst; special adopted daughter, Melissa Vineyard; his God daughters, Michaela and Katelyn Sharp, and God son, Jonathan Sharp. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry Hatmaker of Briceville; and sister, Judy Ramey of Corryton. He also leaves behind a host of friends and family. (Too many to list individually).
The family wishes to thank everyone for their calls, texts and prayers.
The family will receive friends at the Leach Family Funeral Home and Cremation on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 5-7pm with the funeral service to follow at 7pm with Bro. Jimmy Ault and Pastor Jeremiah Wilson officiating. Graveside service will be on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11am with Johnny Sharp, Roger Moser, Gary Prosise, George Byrge, Wayne Leinart, Mike Wilson serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearer, Kenny Moore. www.leachfamilyfuneralhome.com
