Mr. Douglas Cook passed from this life surrounded by loved ones on the morning of October 4, 2025, at the age of 74.
He was born in Williamson, West Virginia, but spent most of his childhood in Easley, South Carolina. He was a 1969 graduate of Easley High School. Soon after, he was certified as an Electrical Technician at Pickens County Area Vocational Education Center. In 1971, while working at Wiener Works, he earned the prestigious title of "Wiener King" which always brought a chuckle when telling his grandkids. He started his career with Security Finance in 1981, and worked there until he retired twenty-nine years later.
In early 1984, he moved to Oklahoma where he welcomed his two children, Jeremy and Melissa, into the world. In 1989, they moved to DeRidder, Louisiana, where both his children graduated. After moving to Texas, he met the love of his life, Karen, where they spent the majority of their twenty-year marriage. They eventually settled in DeRidder, Louisiana, after retirement to spend their golden years with their precious grandbabies.
Family meant more to Doug than anything else in the world. He never missed an opportunity to spoil and spend time with his grandkids, who lovingly referred to him as "Peepaw".
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Cook; his father, James Madison Cook of North Carolina; his mother, Margaret Virginia Vickers of Ohio; step-father, Howard Griffin; and four brothers, Jerry Vickers, Jackie Cook, Johnnie Cook, and Ralph Cook.
He is survived by two children, Jeremy Cook (Brandy) of Pineville and Melissa Guillot (Josh) of Pineville; seven grandchildren, Dylan Cook, Hailey Cook, Peyton Cook, Baylen Guillot, Brooklyn Guillot, Carly Cook, and Logan Cook; one great granddaughter, Saleen Cook; two brothers, Bobby Gibbs (Louise) of Evansville, Indiana, and Eugene Gibbs (Gail) of McCarr, Kentucky; and four sisters, Mary Lou Ball of Easley, South Carolina, Susan Smith of Easley, South Carolina, Harriet Owens of Easley, South Carolina, and Kathy Black of Easley, South Carolina.
All funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, LA.
