Douglas S. Costner

Douglas S. Costner, 81, passed away peacefully after a long and brave battle with Parkinson/Dementia on December 10, 2026, at The Rose Garden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Lawrenceville, New Jersey in 1944 to William and Sophia Costner.
Doug was known for his kindness, generosity, his faith in his Church and his dedication to his family and friends. Known also to many as a "movie star" in his early years. He was a proud graduate of the first graduating class of Notre Dame High School in 1961 and continued his studies at McCarrie School of Dental Technology in Philadelphia, PA. To further his studies, he went on to earn his Master Dental Technician Degree at NYU. He was employed at Hutchinson Dental Laboratory for a span of fifty years.
On April 4, 1964, Doug married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Eileen Lechner, a/k/a Bun. Doug and Eileen made their home in Bordentown Township, Burlington County and eventually retired in Whiting, NJ.
Over the course of his life, Doug was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed playing Squash and Bocci in his earlier years. Doug had a love for being on the water and was an avid pleasure boater. Doug and Eileen enjoyed boating on the Barnegat Bay on their boat "Showtime". He devoted much of his time to volunteering for his Church taking part in bingo, the food pantry, and Cares. He also loved his trips to Aruba with his family. The best times were enjoyed spending time with his sons and grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Eileen Costner, sons Scott C. Costner and wife Laura, Mark W. Costner and wife Jennifer, grandchildren Mark Costner, Jr. and wife Jessenia, William Costner and Emily Repp, Alyssa Costner and John Halliday, David Kowalski and wife Abby, Stephanie Kowalski and Steve Brokowsky, his sister, Mary Thompson and husband Joe, Sister-Inlaw Patricia O'Connell and husband Robert, nephews, Sean O'Connell and wife Liss and Ryan O'Connell. A great granddaughter soon to arrive in January and Eleanor, Stella, Oliver, Luna, and Molly, along with many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 8:00 am- 10:00 am at Carmona-Bolen – Whiting, 66 Lacey Road, Manchester Township, NJ 08759. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:45 am at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 30 Schoolhouse Road, Manchester, NJ 08759.
