It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Mark Lasch, who left us on October 12, 2024, at the age of 64. Born on January 17, 1960, in Hilton, NY, Doug was a long-time resident of Lawrenceville, GA.
A man with an infectious smile, Doug had a gift for making others feel important. He was a loving husband, devoted fur-dad, son, brother, uncle, and friend, always showing compassion and care for the people around him. Doug was known for his dependability and generosity-always checking in on family, friends, and coworkers, offering support and encouragement during difficult times, and showing up when he was needed most.
Doug was mechanically gifted, able to fix almost anything from cars and tractors to household items. He preferred repairing things over buying new, and he passed on his skills to others with patience and thoughtfulness. He was always helping neighbors, friends, and loved ones solve problems, and his knack for making things work was admired by many.
Doug had a lifelong love of sports, rooting for the Atlanta Braves, the Hawks, the Buffalo Bills, the Falcons, and college football teams. He also enjoyed watching golf and could often be found enjoying time on his John Deere tractor, even using John Deere-themed bean bags for cornhole games.
He found peace and joy in the North Georgia mountains, where he and his wife Sharon owned a cabin. The cabin was his personal retreat, a place where they developed close friendships, enjoyed the serenity of nature, and cherished time together. Doug especially loved spending Christmas and Thanksgiving in the mountains, relishing the tranquility and fresh air. He found happiness in exploring local breweries, farmer's markets, and simply gazing at the stars with Sharon.
Doug also loved grilling, happily taking his time to try out new spices and perfect his craft. He enjoyed watching birds flock to the feeders he maintained and found joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Family was central to Doug's life. He was a fun-loving uncle, teasing his mother-in-law and creating laughter and joy in every family gathering. Doug deeply valued the time he spent with family, whether they were blood-related or not. His kindness and humor will be remembered by all who knew him.
Doug worked as a Manufacturing Supervisor from June 6, 1994, until his passing. He was raised Lutheran and remained spiritual throughout his life. He lived a life of loyalty, dependability, and love, touching the lives of many along the way.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Lasch, and brother, Bradley Lasch. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Lasch, and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
Memorial services will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Wages and Sons Crematory and Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, GA.
In Doug's memory, contributions can be made to Laskey's Lucky Ones & Volunteers (LLOV), a dog rescue that was dear to Doug and Sharon's hearts. Donations may be made online or via check to LLOV, 2789 South Clark Drive, Atlanta, GA 30344, or through Mightycause.com. Doug and Sharon adopted their beloved Boxer, Rocky, through LLOV, and the organization continues to rescue, rehabilitate, and find homes for dogs in need.
Doug will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, but his legacy of love, generosity, and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
