Douglas graduated from Benjamin Russell High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships and laid the foundations for his future. After completing his education, he dedicated many years of service as a boiler operator at the steam plant of Wellborn Cabinets, where his hard work and dedication were well-respected by his colleagues.
A devout Christian, Douglas was a faithful servant of Christ and a pillar in his church community. He was a cherished member of God's House Church in Hackneyville, where he served with humility and joy as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and mentor to the children. Game days were a time of joy and camaraderie, as he cheered on his favorite team with friends and family. But beyond his hobbies and interests, the role Douglas cherished most was that of a family man. His love for his family was immense, especially for his granddaughter, Margaret Ann, whom he adored. The title of Paw Paw was the one he held most dear and fulfilled with great pride and joy.
Douglas is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Kristi Moody; his daughter, Meredith (Michael) Wingler; his granddaughter, Margaret Ann Wingler; his brother, Frank (Danielle) Moody; his sister, Betty (Marlin) Smith; his sister-in-law, Melanie Moseley; and several adoring nieces and nephews.
