Age 73, of Sumner, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.
Doug was born January 26, 1952, in Alma, the son of J.C. and Maxine (Jacques) Reinsmith. He graduated from Carson City High School with the class of 1970. He joined the US Army and was an E7 Medic for 21 years before retiring. He enjoyed his time stationed in Alaska, big game hunting and fishing. Doug was a member of the Carson City American Legion and taught nursing students at Montcalm Community College.
He is survived by his siblings Robert (Sue Thomsen) Reinsmith, Pam Bussell, Scott (Jody) Reinsmith, special nieces and nephews Kammie (Brad) Hansen, Lynnette (Michael) Reeder, Daniel (Sara Green) Reinsmith and their children and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, one great great niece and one great great nephew.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and infant son Clifford Reinsmith.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11 am at the Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City. Interment will follow in New Haven Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carson City American Legion.
