Helen L. Hickerson

Helen L. Hickerson, age 95, of Alma passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at her home surrounded by family. She was born on June 28, 1930, in Carson City, the daughter of Roman and Louise (Rogers) Pung. She married Robert Hickerson on September 25, 1954, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alma. She worked as a secretary for Redman Trailers and Lindsey Interstate Associates for several years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Helen had a passion for exercising and stayed active until the very end. She would walk twice a day and attended Jazzercize, Curves and the Alma College Rec Center whenever she was able. Helen was an exceptional cook and enjoyed entertaining at her home. Her scallop potatoes and spaghetti were family favorites. Helen's greatest joy was being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for the generosity and selflessness she showed her children and grandchildren.
Helen is survived by daughters Carrie Olson of Alma, Lynn Hickerson of Newport, MI, Lori (Kevin) Gozdor of Columbia, KY, Suzanne Hickerson of Highland, MI; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers Matthew Pung, Roger Pung, Michael (Alice) Pung; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2016; son James Hickerson in 2017; her parents Roman and Louise; brothers Mark and Johnny Pung; and a sister Patricia Thompson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 1 pm at Nativity of the Lord Parish, 605 S. Franklin St. St. Louis, MI 48880. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Alma. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11 am until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Kali's Cure for Paralysis, 5475 Blue Heron Dr. Alma, MI 48801.
