Douglas Ray Schanaman passed away October 29, 2025 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
He was born to Floyd R. and Joyce M. Schanaman on May 15, 1957 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He attended Scottsbluff schools and farmed with his dad. He married Suzie Reizenstein and they were blessed with a baby boy, Corey Ray, on December 11, 1976.
He later married Donna Richard Bakken on July 20, 1992 and made their home in Gering, Nebraska for several years. Doug worked as a diesel mechanic in the area before the family decided to move to Wyoming in 2007. The family made their home in Gillette, Wyoming first and then moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming to be closer to family. Doug later began truck driving when being a mechanic began to take its toll on his health. He began having health issues with his heart, diabetes and then cancer leading him to decide It was finally time to retire as disabled. Doug loved listening to his music, working in the yard and garage, and when his health allowed he loved riding his harley.
He is survived by wife Donna, son Corey, stepsons Jedidiah and Shane Bakken, his brothers Dan & Jolene (South Dakota), Randy and Anita (Mitchell, NE) and Rory and Nora (Minatare, NE) and his sister Deanna and Gabriel (Denver, CO) along with several nieces and nephews. His family and beloved pups Sassie, Taz, Dazi miss him beyond words.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, inlaws, brother Rick (2024), and numerous aunts and uncles.
