Douglas Tomel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. - Allentown on Feb. 24, 2026.
Douglas J. "Doug" Tomel, 76, of Allentown, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026, in his home. He was the husband of the late Kathleen "Tina" (Malloy) Tomel who passed away in 2018. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Senchak) Tomel. Doug was a US Army veteran. He was a graduate of Allentown High School and Kutztown University. Doug was in the liquor business for over 30 years, the last 20 being with Southern Glazers Wine & Spirits. He was a member of Cathedral/St. Catharine of Siena Church, Allentown and the Knights of Columbus. Doug was a member of NFL Alumni and was a former linebacker with the Baltimore Colts 1970-71. Doug touched so many lives and his legacy and spirit will continue in all of those that knew him. If you knew Doug, you knew how to laugh. He loved to laugh, go to Disney, tell stories, listen to Elvis, watch sports, and he loved getting out there to golf. Doug had countless friends and so many others that he considered family. Doug was the definition of a family man and those still here will miss him dearly, and those who are reunited with him are lucky to have him again.

Survivors: Daughters: Jennifer Tomel and Brenda Tomel; Grandchildren: Mikayla, Emma and Noah Gunkle; Brother: John Tomel and his wife Carol; Sister: Darlene Sigala. Doug was predeceased by a sister Phyllis Silvoy.
