Douglas Dale Vaught Sr.

Douglas Dale Vaught, Sr., 76, of Evansville, passed away Monday, March 2, 2026. He was born January 27, 1950 in Evansville to the late and Dale E. Vaught and Margaret (Proctor) Ramsey.

Doug was a graduate of Haubstadt High School in 1968. He was Operations Manager for DeJong's Department Store and later at Stein Mart where he retired in 2018. Doug was a member of St. Benedict Cathedral and was the Choir Director and a soloist. He sang in a barber shop quartet, "The Class Ring". He was also a member of the Evansville Song Fellows for many years. Doug participated in Cursillo in the 1990's. He really enjoyed cooking for his family. Doug was a wonderful husband and father who treasured the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Doug is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy (Anderson) Vaught; son, Douglas (Penny) Vaught, Jr.; daughter, Melissa Jones; grandchildren, James and Matthew Dant; sisters, Denise (Mike) Franks, Marla (Skip) Dorris and Marsha Acker; brother, Michael Gary; stepbrother, John (Mona) Powell; stepsister, Becky Lyle; and many nieces and nephews.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2026 at St. Benedict Cathedral, 1328 Lincoln Ave., Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Father Godfrey Mullen officiating.

Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
