Doyle W. "Rat" Davis

Doyle (Rat) Davis, 85, of Oak Grove, Missouri passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 30th at Royer Funeral Home, 101 SE 15th St., Oak Grove, MO, 64075. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time. The family suggests contributions be made to the Sni Mills Cemetery Association in care of Tammy Hightower, 37711 E Colbern Rd., Lone Jack, MO 64070.
Doyle (Rat) was born February 28, 1939, at the family home south of Oak Grove, Missouri. He was the son of John F and Inis (Slack) Davis. He married Barbara (Nebgen), his loving wife of 60 years on August 5, 1960.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; and his siblings, Delma Rafferty, Daren Davis, Deva Herman, and Denny Davis.
He is survived by his 4 children, Dwayne (Sherry) Davis of Oak Grove, Tammy Hightower of Lone Jack, Jonathan (Michele) Davis of Cle Elum, WA, and Jeff (Christine) Davis of Oak Grove. Doyle (Rat) had 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Doyle (Rat) lived at the family farm all of his life. On the farm he always had cattle, row crops (mostly soy beans), and hay. He also worked outside the farm as a backhoe operator for many years. He worked for Armco Steel in his earlier days and retired from Arrow Plumbing. His early education began in a one room school house in Sni Mills, Missouri. He then attended Oak Grove schools where he graduated in 1957. He played football for the Panthers and often told stories about the games. Rat or "Pops", as all the grandkids and great grandkids called him, loved spending time deer hunting, watching dirt track racing, and giving each grand kid their own nickname. He never missed a midnight snack or a chance to try to prank those around him.
