Doctor Albert A. Dupont, Colonel, U.S. Army (Retired), 90, of Carmel, passed away Monday, November 10, 2025, at Rivercrest Senior Living, New Albany, Indiana. Al was born February 3, 1935, in Winsted, CT, to the late Antoine and Fernande Dupont. After his mother’s passing, Al was blessed by growing up with a loving step-mother, Therese.
He was a graduate of Holy Cross College and Tufts University, School of Dentistry. Upon graduation from Tufts, Al served on Active Duty for 30 years as an Officer in the U.S. Army Dental Corps. After retiring from the Army, Al served as an Endodontics Instructor at IUPUI and practiced dentistry in Westfield for several years.
Throughout his life, Al was a committed husband, father, friend, and dedicated servant to his family, friends, country, and Savior. He loved playing his guitar and singing, especially with his family and at church. He was extremely proud of his French-Canadian heritage, eagerly slipping into speaking French whenever an opportunity presented itself. His outgoing personality and infectious smile will be greatly missed by anyone who shared the privilege of meeting him. He was a strong man of faith and a longtime member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
Al was preceded in death by his beloved wife and friend, Janet (Nalette). His legacy will be carried forward through the lives of his children: Michael A. (Jeannie M.) Dupont, Alison A. Dupont (Dean M. Rhine), Mark D. (Kimberly T.) Dupont, Peter A. (Michell L.) Dupont and Suzanne D. (Paul) Rutledge; grandchildren; Christopher, Elizabeth, Alora, Rachel, Eddie, Adrienne, Jonathan, Alexis, Emilie and Adam; ten (10) great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald (Paule); and all of the soldiers and civilians with whom he served and whose lives he influenced.
Funeral mass will be held Friday, November 21, at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, of which he was a member. There will be a short visitation at the Church from 10:00 to 11:00 before the funeral mass.
Friends may call Thursday, November 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center – 4180 Westfield Rd. Westfield.
