Dr. Daniel J. Damratoski, age 87, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Born on July 23, 1938, in the Garfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh, he served his community as a dentist in the South Hills for over 50 years.

A graduate of Central Catholic High School's Class of 1956, Dr. Dan went on to earn his degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy in 1968 followed by his DMD degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1972. While working as graduate students at Pitt Pharmacy School, Dan met Irene Hilinski who would become his wife and best friend of 59 years.

Dr. Dan will be remembered not only for his professional expertise and dedication, but also for the unwavering kindness and generosity he brought to his practice. He took the time to truly listen to his patients, valuing their stories and creating connections that went far beyond routine care.

His legacy continues through his beloved family: daughters Diane Damratoski Romaine (and husband Al Romaine) and Darlene Damratoski Nelson; grandchildren Claire Romaine (and husband Kent Van Donge), Ethan Romaine, Rebecca Nelson, Leah Nelson, and Grant Nelson- who has been waiting in Heaven for him, where they can continue to work on cars together. All of his grandkids held a special place in his heart.

Dr. Daniel J. Damratoski's steadfast love for his family was at the heart of everything he did and will be felt for generations. His spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.

All are welcome on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, FREYVOGEL-SLATER FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 112 Fort Couch Rd., 412-835-1860 (Opposite Macy's South Hills Village).
