Dr. David W. Alfano, PhD, 79, of Cape Coral, Florida, formerly of Cranston, Rhode Island, died at Cape Coral Hospital in Cape Coral, Florida on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Providence on January 10,1945, to Antonio Alfano and Angelina (Cerini) Alfano and was the oldest of three sons. David is survived by his beloved wife, Mildred “Milly” (Baglini) Alfano, his two loving children Amanda Alfano and Christopher Alfano, his two brothers and their families Raymond and Carol Alfano, and Steven and Jacqualine Alfano, two uncles, many nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends. David is preceded in death by his loving parents Antonio and Angelina Alfano, mother and father-in-law John and Lena Baglini, brother-in-law Luke Baglini and his devoted dog, Maya, whom he had a special bond.

David is a proud graduate of Brown University, Indianna State University and Notre Dame University where he majored in Psychology and eventually earned his PhD. He served in the Cranston School System as a school psychologist for twenty-two years before transitioning to academia as a professor of Psychology at the Community College of Rhode Island where he enriched the lives of students for seventeen years. David was highly involved in charity work including animal rescues and the St Jude Children’s Hospital and served as an advisor for many student clubs. He was a passionate Boston Red Sox fan, a self-taught gourmet chef, and a kid at heart with a love of Harry Potter and Star Wars. He was a proud Italian American and was adamant that it’s gravy, not sauce. A true lover of the “oldies,” David would never turn down an opportunity to sing and dance to his favorite songs from the 50s and 60s. An avid traveler, David explored 46 states and numerous countries with his friends and family. He made a great impact on his students, many of whom to this day dub him as their all-time favorite professor. David touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
