Dr. William F. Slama, passed away after a courageous 4 year battle with cancer on September 11, 2024, in Zionsville, Indiana. He was born on September 21, 1951, in Gary, Indiana. Bill attended Lew Wallace High School. He was a graduate of Indiana University with an initial degree in Education He later returned to IU where he earned a BS degree in Chemistry and then a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1992.
Dr. Slama's career was in Internal Medicine. Bill practiced as an Internist at St Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis for 28 years. His expertise and compassion left a lasting impact on the countless individuals he served throughout his career.
When Bill was not caring for patients, he enjoyed golfing with his closest friends. Bill was an avid Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs and IU Hoosiers fan but he got the most joy out of watching his grandchildren play their sports
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years Diane Souronis Slama, who shared in his life's journey; his daughter, Jennifer Slama; and his two sons, William "Bill" Slama(Lindsey) and David Slama. Bill also cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, Grayson, Parker, Griffin, and Logan, who brought him immense joy and pride. Siblings; Dr Tom Slama, Dr Larry Slama, Mary Clendenen and Susan Mullarkey. Bill was the “Favorite Uncle” to all of his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. George F. Slama, and his mother, Enid W. Slama, who instilled in him the values of hard work and perseverance, which he carried throughout his life.
Dr. Slama's legacy will be remembered by his family, friends, and the many patients whose lives he touched.

A Memorial Service will be held September 18,2024 from 3pm to 6pm at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Funeral Home.
