Duane Hershel Long

Duane Hershel Long passed away December 25th, 2022. Duane was born August 30,1959 in Columbus, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Hershel and June Long (Patterson). Commonly referred to as Boone and June. And to those that grew up with Duane, he will forever be remembered as Speegie. And when he is thought of, many will be picturing him cruising West High School in his brand new 1976 yellow Trans Am. How he loved that car! While Duane was a journalist by trade, he had many passions. First would be his love for his wife Sarah. Following that, his dogs were his life, with The Ohio State Buckeyes being a very close second. His love for the game of football was a constant in his life, including his lifelong passion for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Duane had a great love for Rock and Roll music and also enjoyed a good cigar, a glass of bourbon and listening to The Blues. Duane is survived by his loving wife Sarah Long (Gambill) and his dear friend of over 50 years, Mark Hunt. Family and Friends may visit on Monday January 2, 2023 from 5pm to 7pm, with service immediately following. To be held at The Rutherford Funeral Home-University, 2383 N. High St Columbus, Ohio.
