Durwood "Hack" Alexander Heckathorn, Jr., 63, of Benwood, WV, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born April 16, 1962, son of the late Durwood and Barbara Jean (Maytja) Heckathorn, Sr.
Hack was in packaging and distributing at Cabela's in Triadelphia, WV. He collected baseball, football, and wrestling cards, and was an avid collector of Scooby Doo items. He loved following the Pittsburgh Steelers. He always made everyone laugh, loved his family and was always there for them.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Charles and Daisy Bassell.
Hack is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Daisy Virginia Bassell Heckathorn; daughter, Marlene (David Allen) Leshuk; son, John P. (Myra) Leshuk; 4 grandchildren, Jay, Kaylee, Cheyann, and Alexandra; 3 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Travis, and Allie. He is also survived by a sister, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 9:30 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Kepner Funeral Homes, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311) with Rev. Margie Carr officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
