Dustin Kirk Johnson at the age of 34, gained his angel wings and went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
Dustin was born in Baltimore, MD in 1990. The summer of 1991 his mom Tonia, and stepdad, Wayne packed up their stuff and moved their family to TN. Tonia wanted a better life for her children, but most of all wanted to raise them in the church of Jesus Christ so they would learn about their Lord and Savior. As Dustin grew older, he got to know the Bible like the back of his hand. His mom would take him on long rides through the mountains, and the whole ride Dustin would talk to his mommy about the Bible and anything else he needed to talk about.
Dustin was a friend to all who met him, and he didn't know a stranger. That was just him though, he had a heart of gold, and everyone knew he was only just a phone call away if anyone ever needed him.
Dustin loved the mountains and was all about the outdoors and he was never one to stay home. Dustin had a passion for riding horses and a talent for breaking them. He loved working on vehicles of any kind and was one of the best mechanics around. Dustin also had a welding degree and enjoyed that as well. Out of all the things he loved and loved to do, nothing compared to the love he had for his family and friends, and he would always say, "not only blood makes you family." Dustin had two best friends that he called his brothers, Skyler and Dylan, and Dustin loved them as much as he loved his own brothers. Even when Dustin moved to West Virginia for 18 years he never forgot about them. He was always telling his WV friends stories about his brothers and best friends.
The best way to describe Dustin would be a young man with a heart of pure gold, and enough love for the whole world. He will truly be missed, and his life, love and legacy will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Barry Kirk O'Donnell; stepdad, Wayne; and his papaw, Edward Byrns.
Dustin is survived by his mom, Tonia and stepdad, Joe; two sisters, Brittany Hinegardner and husband Kevin, and Ashley Hinegardner; two brothers, Danny and Peewee; his two children that really put the light in his life, Haylee Marie Johnson, and Josiah Kirk Johnson; grandma, Joyce Byrns; two uncles, Jimmy and wife, Emily, and Edward, and wife, Stacy; his nieces and nephews, Isabella, Abby, Brayden, Kiasha, Nevaeh, Kalea, Makayla, and Steave; as well as several special cousins, extended family members, and friends.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home in Church Hill. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel.
