CHURCH HILL - Jerry Roger Bailey, 78, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Roger was born on November 30, 1945, in Hawkins Co., TN to his parents, Deadrick and Margaret (Christian) Bailey. He was a longtime member at First Free Will Baptist Church in Church Hill. Roger was a deacon for 41 years and was a member of the Golden Eagles club at FFWBC for many years. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company after 34 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Bailey; daughter, Susan Slemp; sister, Gaynell Wagner; brothers, Darnell Bailey and Kimmy Bailey; and his son-in-law, Jeffrey Thacker.
Roger is survived by his daughters, Kellie Christine Cross (Jerry), and Heather Thacker (Terry Arnold); grandchildren, Ashton Hostler (Matt), Bailey Vicars, Kennedy Osborne (Noah), Coltin Kochensparger, Ryland Slemp, and Kayson Slemp; great grandson, Jack Hostler; sister, Carolyn Jayne (Paul, deceased); brother, Charles Denny Bailey (Kate); as well as several nieces and nephews, and his FFWBC family.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 PM at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow the visitation in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mitch Russell officiating. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM to go in procession. Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Morton, Chad Shanks, Jerry Cross, Noah Osborne, Matt Hostler, Terry Arnold, and Coltin Kochensparger.
