Dutro Blocksom Jr.

Dutro Blocksom passed away on July 9, 2024. Most recently a resident of Traditions at Camargo, Dutro is preceded in death by his wife Lucille and daughter Leslie. He is survived by his son Peter, and grandchildren Jessica and Alex Hueneman and Lily and Ben Blocksom.
After graduating from Columbia University, Dutro served in the Navy during the Korean War. After, he earned his MFA from Ohio University and began a long career as an art director at Procter & Gamble, where he was awarded several patents for package design innovations.
Dutro was an active member of the Cincinnati community and a patron of the arts. As a semi-professional photographer, he exhibited locally throughout the years, and was part of the team that started Images Gallery in the 1980s. He was especially proud when musician Graham Nash visited the gallery and purchased a few of his photos. He was a member and past president of the Art Director's Club and attended the Playhouse and the Symphony for decades.
He was also a founding member of the East Walnut Hills Redevelopment Foundation, helping to revitalize the neighborhood. As a member of the First Unitarian Church, Dutro was active and engaged in many social issues and causes.
Dutro had a passion for architecture and working with his hands. He built the family summer home in Vermont over a period of years and, just for fun, rehabbed a house in Mt Adams at 959 Paradrome St.
