Dwight was born on August 16, 1957, to his parents, Kenneth and Mary (Weaver) Dyer in Indiana. He grew up alongside his siblings in Chariton and later graduated from Chariton High School in 1975. Many would describe young Dwight as free-spirited hippie.
After High school, Dwight stayed local and resided in Chariton where he also met the love of his life, Myrna Whitson. The two were married on Valentines Day in 1999. The two grew old together and spent a lot of time with family and friends including their dog Brutus.
Dwight was always easy going and never knew a stranger. He loved talking to people familiar faces or new ones, he loved getting to know someone. Dwight's world revolved around his family especially his grandchildren. He loved the simple things like going fishing, mushroom hunting, hiking and would always bring Brutus along for the many adventures including gravel traveling.
Despite all of the hardships Dwight encountered, he got the best out of everything. He spent 11 hard years battling cancer but never was alone during his fight. On January 7, 2026, Dwight passed away at home surrounded by family. He is preceded by his parents, brother, David Dyer and a great great grand daughter Azlynn.
Dwight will be deeply missed by his wife of 27 years, Myrna Dyer; their children: Travis (Rikki) Goodwin, Jennifer Lee, Eddie Lee, Michael (Yasday) Lee; 14 grandchildren: Christopher (Sara) Foster, Nicole (Adam) Bostwick, Erica (Jacob) Goodwin, Zachary Goodwin, Brandy (Mike) VanMeer, Brandon (Skye) Angus, Bree (Keith) Angus, Paige Lee, Alaynna (Marshall) Wagner, Caitlin Wagner, Eddie Lee Jr., Haley (Tyler) Lee, Riley (Brice) Lee, Michael Lee Jr.; 20 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; siblings: Debbie Dyer Bennett Conn and Darrell Dyer and many other friends and extended family.
