Dwight Owen Hartz, a resident of Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025. He was 77 years old and was retired from Entergy with 20 years of service. He was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025 from 1130am until 1230pm. Burial will be in Louisiana National Cemetery, Zachary. He is survived by his daughter, Deanna Lynn Foster and a son, Christopher Owen Hartz. 2 sisters, Jan Gustafson and Arla Johnson. A brother, Gene Littig. 3 grandchildren, Grace Anne Foster, Madison Kristie Hartz and Bryer Harlan Diggins. 2 great grandchildren, Harper Diggins and Baylor Diggins. He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd A. Hartz, mother, Neva M. Hartz and brother-in-law, Jerry Johnson. Pallbearers will be Christopher Hartz, Robert Foster, Brian Binkley, Courtney Brown, Bryer Diggins and Randy Pebworth. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Hatch, Jim McCoy, Grace Foster and Madison Hartz. Dwight was a 1966 graduate of Knoxville High School. He enjoyed Drag Racing, Mud Racing and Classic Cars. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Knoxville, IA and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton. He was awarded First Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation and Gallantry Cross.
